The term "official translation" is not really a term, as it has more than one meaning. The wording is used to include “certified translations”, “legal translations” and “sworn translations”. They are not the same thing. Certified translation The translator certifies that the translation is a true and accurate one. Sworn translation The translator takes an oath before a public officer to confirm the accuracy of their translation. Notarized translation The translator swears the translation before a Notary public.
